Xtreme Waste provides kerbside recycling collections in Raglan on the following days:
Monday - Raglan West (all houses on the western side of the Wainui Road one lane bridge to Te Tuhi Road, beyond Whale Bay).
Tuesday - Raglan East (all houses on the eastern side of the Wainui Road one lane bridge to Greenslade Road).
Outside of these areas residents can use the rural recycling facilities or bring recyling directly to the recycling centre at 186 Te Hutewai Road, Raglan.
Statutory Holidays
There are NO collections on statutory holidays. When a statutory holiday falls on a kerbside collection day, all collections will occur one day later.
How To Recycle
Recycling should be placed on the kerbside by 8.30am on your collection day. Please use the official green recycling crates (max of two), for all your recycling, except paper and cardboard which should be contained and placed neatly on top or beside your crate. Crates can be purchased from Waikato District Council offices for $13. Write your name and house number on your crate to avoid losing it. Check out this handy leaflet for more information HERE.
Handy Tips for recyclers
Do Not overfill your crate.
Do not put rubbish in with your recycling.
Wash and squash if you can.
Remove lids.
Check you are only recycling what we collect on the kerbside.
If you have two crates, please separate your glass - it helps the kerbside team.
NO broken glass or hazardous items
Use the official green crates.
What Do We collect at the Kerbside?
Plastics - BOTTLES AND CONTAINERS
Check that number! The only plastic containers currently collected for recycling in Whāingaroa are numbers 1, 2, and 5. Most plastic containers with numbers 1 or 2 or 5 can be recycled, but not all.
Xtreme Waste collects juice and soft drink containers, plastic milk and cream bottles (not pottles), plastic vegemite jars, shampoo bottles, many household cleaning containers (e.g. washing detergents) and some ice-cream containers (although not their lids) and bread bags.
Check the number contained within the recycling arrow, usually on the base or side of containers.
We DO NOT collect tetrapaks, meat trays, plant pots, supermarket bags or black plastics.
Glass - Bottles and jars are the only glass accepted for kerbside recycling, as other glass has a different chemical content. We DO NOT collect household glasses or broken glass of anykind.
Cardboard - includes boxes, packaging, cereal boxes and toilet rolls.
Paper - includes newspaper, magazines, brochures, office paper and egg trays.
Steel and Aluminium CANS - all steel and aluminum cans are collected for recycling. They should be washed and squashed if possible. Aerosol cans are also collected, but should be completely empty. If you have other metal items you want to recycle, please take them to the recycling centre.
Nappies are not recyclable so please do not put them in your crate!!!!!!
